Patricia Smith Burkhart graduated with a Master's Degree in Acupuncture from the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA), the oldest established school of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the US. Pat is licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, and is board certified by the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine).
Pat has trained in both Traditional Chinese style acupuncture as well as Japanese style and Five Element theory. Pat is a volunteer member of Acupuncturists Without Borders, a non-profit organization providing relief and recovery for trauma from disasters and global conflicts. Pat served as a Diplomat to the 5th International Congress of Natural and Traditional Medicine and Bioenergetics in July 2004.
Pat has successfully treated hundreds of various medical conditions. Many patients have, with the advice and consent of their doctors, been able to reduce and in many cases eliminate their medications following successful acupuncture treatments of their conditions. Many patients tell Pat that they wish that they had sought out acupuncture first, instead of as a last resort, because acupuncture was the most successful care that they had received.
Pat is knowledgeable about Western medical terminology, pathophysiology and treatments, and is able to make informed and appropriate referrals.
